Goulash

I have never made (or even had) goulash before and saw a delicious looking picture on Pinterest last week, so I decided to give it a try.  The link on Pinterest sent me here. Doesn’t that picture look yum?

Mom’s Goulash (click for recipe) from Annie’s Eats

Ingredients:

This was fairly easy to throw together.  Brown the meat and then add in tomato sauce and paste, and the spices.

While that’s simmering, boil your pasta and make the cream mixture.

Sour cream, cream cheese & egg.

Delightful picture, no? No.  Then you start layering.  Little sauce on the bottom, half pasta, half cream mix.

Such dark photos.  Then add half the remaining tomato mix, rest of the pasta and the other half of the cream mix.  Top with the last of the tomato mix and add mozzarella cheese.  Bake at 375F for 30 (we did 25) minutes and voilà, goulash!

It was really good.  Brett ate it for breakfast the next morning and again this morning.  It made a ton.

Guess what didn’t happen on Wednesday – running.  But it’s dark so early now! I don’t feel comfortable running around our neighborhood in the dark.  But we do have a gym downstairs at work, so I utilized a treadmill Thursday evening.  Will talk about that in the next post.

Happy Veteran’s Day! Thank you to all the veterans who have served.

As the recipe says, this really isn’t goulash at all. But it does look tasty!
